Kia ora, I’m Kim, an Auckland-based live illustrator and artist. I’ve always ‘drawn’ my notes - adding people, speech bubbles and illustrative flair to titles and paragraphs. At school, it made my notes look nice. At work, after attending meetings, conferences or talks, illustration gave my notes structure, clarity and added depth (and yes, they were still pretty nice to look at). I quickly realised how much easier it was to understand and recall information I’d heard perhaps weeks or months before, and how beneficial it’d be for others. And so I became a live illustrator!

What is live event illustration?

Also known as graphic recording, visual note-taking or visual scribing, live illustration involves an illustrator (me!) working with you to understand what you’d like to capture visually at your event and then drawing it all live. Want to record your keynote speaker’s talk? I’ve got you. Having a meeting and you want to visually record what was said in the room? I’m there. I work with you to figure out what needs to be illustrated, the best way to do it, and how it can deliver the greatest value to your organisation and audience. And it doesn’t just have to be notes - I can draw live portraits too! Attendees will not only be buzzing because you threw a great event, but they’ll also have a tangible artefact to take away with them. What a gift!

Frequently asked questions

  • Quotes start from $2,200 (excl. GST) for a half-day booking (up to 4 hours). This covers everything you should need for your event, including a pre-meeting, tech testing, travel within Auckland, live drawing, a set of revisions, and delivery of assets. Send through an enquiry for my full pricing menu.

    For live portraits or shorter corporate events, pop-ups, and meetings, contact me for a bespoke quote.

  • Conferences, workshops, panels, meetings, brainstorming sessions, PR events, product launches, business parties, community pop-ups - basically anything where some slick visual documentation or guest gift would go down a treat.

  • Possibly! Anywhere within 30mins of my home base in Auckland is included in quotes. Travel further afield in Auckland and to Wellington are doable. Additional travel and expenses can be discussed during a brief no-commitment call.

  • Definitely! I can join the event through Zoom, Teams or the platform of your choice and start drawing.
