Hi, it’s Saturday morning

I watered the garden yesterday and, wouldn’t you know it, it’s been raining all day. I know of an outdoor wedding taking place this weekend and I hope they have a backup option! Or maybe they’ll just pull out the umbrellas and go for it anyway. Sometimes you got to roll with the unexpected, which feels like a motto for my week thus far.

Something I did expect this week is this little weekend letter. From my laptop to yours, here’s what I’ve been digging into this week.

What I’ve been looking at

Despite having more than enough clothes, I’ve gotten a bit sick of what I own. I’ve been getting the feeling to change it all up and buy a wardrobe that reflects who I am now, but buying new goes against my minimalist/sustainability/cheap ways so I’m thinking of doing the 10×10 challenge that I rediscovered this week. 10 pieces, 10 outfits, 10 days, and I get to shop my wardrobe. Hopefully it gives me a fresh and exciting perspective on what I already have.

Can someone please buy me this Guess Who? type game that features legendary women throughout history?

What I’ve been watching

I had no idea teeth grinding was a rite of passage in Indonesia.

I love how DIY and customised Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Saarsgard made their home.

Just discovered Kore Asian Media’s Youtube channel and really enjoyed this chat between Tan France (Queer Eye) and Manny Jacinto (The Good Place) about subverting Asian stereotypes and representation.

The NZ Police have a vlog! Like a well produced, meme filled vlog.

And the best thing I watched this week – ‘Period. End of a sentence‘ on Netflix. All about the Pad Project in India. Important message and a great cause.

What I’ve been reading

Learning about the enraging deeds and opinions of NZ literary hero James K Baxter this week, it’s great that a light is being shone on Jacqui Sturm, his wife, who’s career he both benefitted from and impeded.

Why we shouldn’t feel pressured to turn hobbies into hustles.

What I’ve been listening to

Avril Lavigne will always have a special place in my heart and I kind of love her new song feat. Nicki Minaj.

A new section! What I’ve been doing

Running! It’s new. I’m trying to enjoy it. I downloaded the Zombie Run couch to 5k app to help keep me motivated and it’s working! Here’s a link to their main app, which I actually can’t wait to start… weird.
